Membership of the South Canterbury Arts Society (SCAS) brings many benefits for a small outlay .

All members are able to enter our local art exhibitions held at our beautiful art rooms on Gleniti road, Membership provides a fun and friendly network of local artists who will support and encourage all artists and all art practices.

Outdoor Sketching

The SCAS encourage you to join the outdoor sketching group. This group meets weekly on a Sunday, at the library car park 9:30am . Local destinations are the order of the day and usually finish with a coffee and debrief at a local cafe .

Thursday Group

Or if the great outdoors are not for you then come along to our weekly art Thursday group (10am – 2pm). Held on “Thursday ” at our art rooms ,this is a warm and inviting environment for artists of all levels of experience . Bring your lunch and get to know the wonderful members of this group.

Studio Time

Our studio room is open on Tuesdays 1pm – 4pm. This is a opportunity to set up your easel and work alongside others over a 3 hour period.

Members have full access to an extensive range of art books , art magazines and reference material from our library.   

Workshops are held during the year for the purpose of education, experimentation and learning. 2024 workshops include: Basic Drawing, Share The Knowledge (oil painting), Watercolour and Acrylic.

If subscription is not paid by 31 July a penalty of $5.00 must be added on.

    Rooms to hire

    Beautiful historic Bluestone building situated at Gleniti Park, Gleniti Road, Timaru. The room is full of light and space. Tea and coffee making facilities are available, along with screens and easels.  A TV is also available to use.
